From business administration to veterinary technology, professors from many of our degree programs provide a quick overview that could be very helpful as you choose your major.

Applied Administration Bachelor's Degree

Designed for students who already hold a technical or applied associate degree, the technical and applied studies program is ideal for students and working adults who want to move into supervisory or administrative positions in a technological field. The program is suitable for people who have work experience or who have recently earned a technical associate degree (associate of applied science, associate of applied business, or associate of technical studies). It provides graduating students with an edge in their current positions and helps them achieve a supervisory position within their company or industry.

Biological Sciences (Pre)

Biology is the study of the cellular, organismal, and ecological characteristics of life. It is a diverse, research and application-driven professional science. Biologists examine the structure and function of all forms of life including viruses (virology), bacteria (bacteriology), fungi (mycology), plants (botany) and animals (zoology).

Biologists also examine the interrelatedness of organisms in ecological populations, communities, and ecosystems. A solid foundation in chemistry, math, statistics, and technical writing are fundamental for all biologists.

Business Administration (Pre)

Business Administration (Pre) is an associate degree program that provides the basic curriculum needed for the first two years of a bachelor's degree in business. The program is transfer-oriented and is ideal for the student who is considering an upper-level business management career, but who wishes to pursue the first two years within a small campus atmosphere.

Business Management Technology

Business technology is a program providing a broad foundational study of knowledge required for entry-level positions in business management. It includes an introduction to all the functional areas of business: management, marketing, accounting and finance, and a general education core. In addition, the student may choose among five concentrations (tracks):
  • Accounting
  • Management
  • Financial services
  • Marketing
  • Real estate


The Department of Chemistry at UC Blue Ash offers the educational foundation that prepares students to successfully transition to the UC McMicken College of Arts and Sciences, or similar programs at other colleges and universities across the U.S.

Dental Hygiene Technology

Dental hygiene is an accredited associate of applied science degree program that is designed to prepare students to work as an integral part of a dental team. As licensed professionals, dental hygienists provide a variety of educational and health care services to the public, including cleaning and polishing teeth; applying preventive agents such as fluorides and sealants; exposing and processing radiographs; educating patients in the prevention of oral diseases; instructing patients in home care procedures; removing hard and soft deposits from teeth; providing nutritional counseling; administering nitrous oxide sedation and local anesthesia; and performing other preventive patient services.

Early Childhood Education (Pre)

Early childhood education concentrates on the preschool, kindergarten and first three grades of elementary school.

Preschool children learn mainly through play and interactive activities. Their teachers capitalize on play to further language and vocabulary development, improve social skills and introduce scientific and mathematical concepts.

Electronic Media Technology

Electronic media technology prepares students to bridge the gap between traditional media production disciplines and the new digital technologies of media production and communications. It includes instruction in research skills, critical studies in media and portfolio development.

English Program

The Department of English and Communication at UC Blue Ash offers courses in preparatory reading and writing, English composition, literature, creative writing, journalism, and a variety of courses in Communication, including public speaking, persuasion, interpersonal communication, and nonverbal intercultural communication.

Health Education (Pre)

The health education program at the University of Cincinnati is designed to prepare graduates for a variety of health education job opportunities. Health educators work to improve the health of individuals or communities, depending on their work setting and job responsibilities.


The History program provides an excellent general education foundation for students who wish to pursue a baccalaureate degree at the McMicken College of Arts & Sciences. Students at UC Blue Ash College enjoy small classes and well-qualified faculty, as well as the many benefits afforded through study at a university ranked among the nation's top 25 public research institutions.

Liberal Arts Program

The Liberal Arts program is designed for students who want to start their education at UCBA, but complete their BA or BS from UC's McMicken College of Arts and Sciences (A&S). Once you complete the coursework at UCBA, you can transfer to more than 30 programs at the Uptown Campus, including history, English, political science, Africana studies, women's studies, and philosophy.

Middle Childhood Education (Pre)

Middle grades teachers help students delve more deeply into subjects introduced in elementary school and expose them to more information about the world. Middle grades teachers in Ohio usually specialize in two of three concentrations: science, math and social studies.

Nursing Program

Nursing, as defined by this program, is the art and science of human caring. It is designed to prepare graduates to care for people across the life span. Nurses provide culturally competent, safe and effective care in a variety of settings including hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health agencies, hospice, and schools.


Psychology is the study of behavior and mental processes. Psychologists can be found doing a wide range of work, including counseling and therapy, research in the many subfields of psychology, and teaching; others can be found in private industry in human resources departments, focusing on psychology in the workplace.

Radiologic Technology

Radiography is the use of radiation to provide images of various body parts (bones, vessels, organs) and various body functions (digestion, circulation) to facilitate diagnosis and treatment of certain injuries and illnesses.

Secondary Education (Pre)

Secondary education is teaching that concentrates on grades seven through twelve.

Secondary school teachers help students delve even more deeply into subjects introduced in elementary and middle school, and continue exposing them to more information about the world. Secondary school teachers specialize in a specific subject, such as English, Spanish, mathematics, history or biology.

Sport Administration (Pre)

Pre-sport administration is an associate degree program that provides the basic curriculum needed for the first two years of a bachelor's degree in sport administration. The program is transfer-oriented and is ideal for the student who is considering an upper-level management career, but who wishes to pursue the first two years within a small campus atmosphere.

Veterinary Technology

The Associate in Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology is designed to train technicians to assist veterinarians in industry, medical centers and animal hospitals. This program provides training in animal husbandry and restraint, nursing, surgical preparation and techniques, drug administration, anesthesia, anatomy, laboratory techniques and radiography. Preceptorships at various private practices and research institutions provide valuable on-the-job training.
