UC Blue Ash College

Former UC Blue Ash Dean Named President of Local University

Cady Short-Thompson speaking at an event

We are proud to congratulate Cady Short-Thompson, PhD, on her selection as the new president of Northern Kentucky University.

Short-Thompson is a University of Cincinnati alumna who served as dean of UC Blue Ash College from 2010 – 2017 and made a very positive impact on the direction of our college and the success of our students. Below are some of the key accomplishments from her tenure at UC Blue Ash.

  • Leading the complex process to formally change the name from Raymond Walters College to UC Blue Ash College in 2011 to better reflect the alignment of the college with the university (it was UC’s first regional college when it opened in 1967) and highlight its location in the thriving City of Blue Ash.
  • Overseeing major construction and renovation projects to better meet the needs of students, faculty and staff. This includes Progress Hall which opened in 2017, a multi-phase renovation of Muntz Hall, and the renovation of the UC Blue Ash Library.
  • Launching the UC Blue Ash Shuttle to allow students to commute for free between the UC Uptown and Blue Ash campuses.
  • Growing the UC Smiles program that began in 2010 and has provided free teeth cleanings and oral health check-ups to nearly 3,000 area school children through the UC Blue Ash Dental Hygiene Clinic.

UC Blue Ash continues to build on this positive momentum under the leadership of Robin Lightner, PhD, who assumed the role of interim dean in 2017 and officially became dean of UC Blue Ash in 2018.

The college is adding new academic programs, including an Artificial Intelligence associate degree program that launched his fall; expanding its co-op and internship opportunities; and continuing a major renovation of Muntz Hall that includes new technologically advanced classrooms and new study spaces for students.
