Making it Against the Odds – PATH Speaker Series

UCBA Distinguished Alumnus and scholarship donor Eric Broyles has created a speaker series for students that may be facing challenging circumstances and steep odds against academic success. The Path Speaker Series seeks to give all students a path to achieving academic and career success by exposing ideas, insights, techniques and strategies for success. This series will give students access and visibility to successful African American UC alumni who also made it against the odds.  The first session took place on February 6, where students learned more about Eric’s struggles and what the first step is to success.

Alumni Spotlight: Haley Fritz

From working in leadership roles in the non-profit field, to owning and managing her own event planning business, UC Blue Ash College 2017 Young Alumnus Outstanding Achievement Award winner, Haley Fritz, can really do it all. And for that she credits the Applied Administration program at UC Blue Ash College.

Alumni Assist with Scholarship Workshops

UCBA alumni hosted two scholarship workshops for students in January to give tips on filling out scholarship applications. Students had the opportunity to gain insight on how to strategically compose their applications. They could then receive one-on-one assistance from alumni for feedback and advice. The workshops were a success, with a total of 42 students attending. We plan to host these workshops again next year, with the hope of reaching even more students.

Seeking Well Being

Seeking Well-Being Coffeehouse
Wednesday, April 4, 6–8:30 p.m., Muntz Commons

UC Blue Ash College will be hosting a coffeehouse, open stage event around the theme of “seeking well-being.” Students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners are welcome to participate by attending or through indicating an interest in sharing creative work broadly pertinent to the theme.

This could include songs, poems, performance art of some sort, visual art, dance and more. The purpose is to join together as a community to enhance awareness of mental and emotional health issues, share resources, consider how we can ally with and support each other, celebrate the healing process and more.

Are you interesting in sharing your work?
