  • First-generation college student
  • Psychology major with plans to go to graduate school
  • Gaining new skills and making connections as a student leader

Andrew Nixon is an outstanding student who is studying psychology, pursuing plans for graduate school, and gaining valuable skills through a variety of student leadership experiences.

He started as a Student Orientation Leader (SOL) at UC Blue Ash, welcoming incoming students and helping them learn more about all the resources and advantages the college offers. That led to becoming a Student Ambassador and then Student Orientation Coordinator, where he was part of the team that managed the SOLs.

There is so much opportunity here, you really have no idea where you could go. It’s surprising how many things you can do just by saying I want to.

Kelli Walker was named the 2025 UC Blue Ash Pre-Business Administration Student of the Year.

Andrew has been seeking out opportunities from the moment he enrolled at UC Blue Ash. In his first semester on campus, he participated in a research project – something that will be important when applying for graduate school. He was also impressed right away with the personal approach our faculty and staff provide for students.

“Having that really close connection with the professors, smaller class sizes; it didn’t feel totally removed to what I was used to. I really appreciated that.”

The supportive atmosphere at our college is certainly helping Andrew thrive. He was named the Behavioral Science Honor Student of the Year in 2025 – yet another important accomplishment that will help him on the path to his goals.
