For Kelli Walker, the path to finding the right college wasn’t straightforward. She moved often as a child before her family settled in the Springboro area during high school and later in Liberty Township. After starting college in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, Kelli spent much of her first year taking online classes and struggling to find a sense of connection.
When she learned more about UC Blue Ash, she decided to give college another chance. And the experience has been life changing. “UC Blue Ash opened all the doors possible for me,” Kelli says. “I never would have thought about doing an internship or even going back to school if it wasn’t for this campus.”
At first, being back in a classroom setting felt overwhelming. But Kelli soon began making friends, found a welcoming community, and connected with supportive professors who made a real difference in her journey.

Kelli Walker was named the 2025 UC Blue Ash Pre-Business Administration Student of the Year.
“I would say the faculty here, especially in business and economics, are extremely supportive, helpful, and reliable. Anytime my grade started to slip, or I didn’t do as well as I thought on an assignment, I could go talk to them. They were always open, available, and quick to help me understand what I needed to work on,” she explains.
Kelli excelled in the classroom and was named the 2025 UC Blue Ash Pre-Business Administration Student of the Year. She graduated this spring with her associate degree in pre-business administration from UC Blue Ash and is on track to complete her bachelor’s degree in accounting at UC’s Lindner College of Business in 2026. She also plans to pursue certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and is eager to begin her career in the field.
Her advice for other students is simple: “Use your resources, rely on your professors, and let them help you like they want to.”
