When did you start at UCBA and what are your current responsibilities?

I started at UCBA in the Fall of 2022 and am an assistant professor for the Health Promotion and Education Program. My responsibilities include teaching courses in both the Public Health and Exercise Science Programs. I teach online courses such as Child and Adolescent Health, Consumer Health, and Mental Health Issues. I also teach in-person courses such as Introduction to Exercise Science, Introduction to Public Health, Health & Nutrition, and Personal Health. If you ever see my Introduction to Exercise class outside for Fit Fridays, please feel free to join in with us!

What is your favorite thing about working at UC Blue Ash?

My favorite parts about teaching at UC Blue Ash are the faculty, staff, and students! Everyone is very passionate about why they are here and what they do. Starting a new job, or any new adventure, is always tough. Having supportive coworkers always makes it better!

The students here at UCBA are truly unmatched! They are so hardworking and resilient; I love getting to know them and learning from them daily! This spring will be my first group of students to graduate, and I cannot wait to see them on that stage!

Is there a current/recent book or podcast you’re enjoying?

I love listening to podcasts and audiobooks! I am a big true crime enthusiast, but when I am not listening to Crime Junkie, My Favorite Murder, or Southern Fried True Crime I am listening to the New Heights Podcast by Jason and Travis Kelce. I have always been a Bearcats fan and love listening to these two alumni! A few of my favorite books from this past year are Watching You, The Silent Patient, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Mad Honey, and November 9.

What kind of hobbies or activities do you pursue outside of work?

I love spending time with my husband, Jon, and daughter, Oaklyn. We have two dogs named Mick and Mack. My students know that these dogs are not well behaved and cause most of my stress! When I am not at home with my family watching Frozen or Garfield for the 100th time, I am playing sand volleyball, running my permanent jewelry business, attending Bearcats sporting events, working out at Orange Theory, having dinner with friends, doing something creative, traveling, and just trying to stay mentally and physically healthy!

What is one fun or interesting fact you would like to share about yourself?

One fun fact about me is that my middle name is Julen, which is a combination of my grandmothers Judy and Helen.
