Staff Spotlight: Benny Spirk

When did you start at UCBA and what are your current responsibilities?
I began my role as the Program Coordinator for Student Life in July of this year. In my role I assist with campus-wide programming, student leadership initiatives, and student organizations.
Before coming to UC Blue Ash, I was the Community Sports Coordinator for Hamilton County Special Olympics. I planned events and sports programs throughout the year in the Cincinnati area for over 1000 athletes. I also helped with the oversight of volunteers for our events and fundraising efforts for our sports programs within the community.
What is your favorite thing about working at UC Blue Ash?
My favorite thing about working at UC Blue Ash is interacting with the students on campus and working with such an awesome team in Student Life & Success.
Benny served as a coach and representative for FC Cincinnati at the MLS All-Star game in 2023. He’s pictured with Luciano Acosta, the reigning MVP of the MLS that season.
Benny running his first marathon, the Philadelphia Marathon. He plans to run in his 4th marathon next month.
Is there a current/recent book or podcast you’re enjoying?
I am currently reading a book called The Captain Class: The Hidden Force Behind the World’s Greatest Teams.
What kind of hobbies or activities do you pursue outside of work?
I enjoy fishing, running, disc golf, traveling, and playing/coaching soccer.
What is one fun or interesting fact you would like to share about yourself?
I am running my fourth full marathon in November at the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon.
