Staff Spotlight: Ranjiv Subramaniam
When did you start at UCBA and what are your current responsibilities?
I started at UC Blue Ash in 2019 as a University Service Associate I. In 2021, One Stop went through a rebranding to become Enrollment Services. Subsequently, my title became Enrollment Service Specialist. Our office serves as the main customer service arms of the Offices of the Bursar, Registrar and Student Financial Aid for the Blue Ash, Clermont and Clifton campuses. I am also honored to serve as the Advisor for the UCBA Asian Student Union (ASU) and as a Member of the University of Cincinnati Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American Staff and Faculty Employee Resource Group (APIDA Staff & Faculty ERG).
What is your favorite thing about working at UC Blue Ash?
Hands down my favorite part of working at UCBA is the diversity of my interactions. I can honestly say that no two days have been alike! I’m privileged to have the opportunity to work with not only students and parents, but also staff and faculty on a daily basis. My position also enables me to work closely with all 3 University of Cincinnati campuses as well as nearly all the Colleges that UC has to offer. Especially when working with students and their families, it is truly a joy for me to interconnect with all the diverse backgrounds that make up our student body.
What kind of hobbies or activities do you pursue outside of work?
My wife and I have 7 children and are expecting #8, this fall. We also own Jayanti Salon in Loveland. When I’m not at UCBA, the salon or trucking children to activities, you’ll usually find me rewatching movies and shows from the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the WWE. For 10 months out of the year I’m usually glued to the TV on Sundays watching NASCAR. I also enjoy listening to audio books about conspiracy theories and aliens.
What is one fun or interesting fact you would like to share about yourself?
I am a huge fan of Lee Child’s character, Jack Reacher. I have read (and often reread) all the novels, novellas and short stories that have been published (46 in total).
