Embark on the adventure of a lifetime! Spend two thrilling weeks in Heredia, Costa Rica, the “City of Flowers” in the summer of 2025. Improve your Spanish language skill by immersing yourself in the Spanish language while attending Intercultura, engage in experiential learning opportunities, learn about the Costa Rican Culture and explore your true meaning of Pura Vida!

Program Course

SPAN 2065 - Latin American Culture & Civilization I

Course Description

In this course, you will learn about different aspects of Costa Rican culture including the traditional and community culture of one of Costa Rica’s surviving indigenous communities. The national motto of Costa Rica is “Pura Vida,” which has multiple meanings. You will explore your understanding of Pura Vida. This course includes traditional classes prior to departure as well as participation in on-site cultural activities.

MLTI 3000: Study Abroad for Undergraduate Students

In this course, you will attend daily language classes taught by native speakers at Intercultural, a language institute. Credit earned (up to three hours) will be transferred to UC as language credit.
