When did you start at UCBA and what are your current responsibilities?

I started as the Sr. Human Resources Manager for UCBA in September of 2023. I act as one of the main points of contact for any HR-related activity, particularly full-time faculty searches, staff leaves, and labor relations. Prior to that I spent seven years in human resources at UC’s College-Conservatory of Music.

What is your favorite thing about working at UC Blue Ash?

I have been so thrilled to experience everything UCBA has had to offer me over the last few months, particularly the collaborative team I get to work with in the Business Office and the rest of the Dean’s Suite. Also, I’ve been so excited to walk around and appreciate the beauty of the campus itself. It’s nice to see so much green!

Is there a current/recent book or podcast you’re enjoying?

Although I love to read (my book club just read The Storyteller’s Death by Ann Dávila Cardinal), I have to mention my favorite podcast, Blank Check with Griffin and David. I’ve loved movies since my sister started working at a theater back in 2000, and having a podcast that walks through director’s full filmographies has been a great way to appreciate the overall arc and career of so many great directors. Right now, they are discussing John McTiernan (The Hunt for Red October), and I’m listening to them discuss Michael Mann (Heat) as I work my way through their backlog.

What kind of hobbies or activities do you pursue outside of work?

My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family (my wife Mary, 4-year old son Eric and nearly 2-year old son Joseph). When I am not with them, I am probably at FC Cincinnati games with my dad (our season tickets gave us an opportunity to get a picture with last year’s MLS MVP Luciano Acosta) or playing trivia with a more extended family. My love of meaningless movie nonsense helped me get to meet B-movie star Bruce Campbell when I won Last Fan Standing at an event last year.

What is one fun or interesting fact you would like to share about yourself?

I love to use spreadsheets to create mostly silly statistics surrounding media that I consume. The silliest/best example of this is something that I created a few years ago as I worked my way through the James Bond franchise that mathematically ranked the movies, based on statistically weighted categories (Bond performance, villain, song, etc.)
