Radiologic Technology News

Rad Tech Rules!

Our Radiologic Technology program is on a roll! It just received notification that we earned the maximum eight year continuing accreditation status and program director, Heather Moore, was recently named Technologist of the Year by the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists (OSRT). To top it off, professors Julie Gill and Tiffany Roman, along with student Stephanie Bachman were elected to the OSRT Board of Directors. It's a Rad Tech world, we're just living in it!

InterProfessional Education Experience - March 11, 2016

The Radiologic Technology program is proud to participate in the 2016 Interprofessional Education event. At this event, students in the EMS, Pre Health Education, Medical Assisting Services, Nursing, Radiologic Technology and Social Work programs will all get together to experience the simulation of a patient's journey through the health care system!

The goal of the IPE event is to help students better understand each profession's contribution to patient care and how to better communicate with their fellow health care providers. This event will also help students develop skills to increase patient safety, reduce errors and improve the overall quality of health care. There is more demand for interprofessional education in the field of health care and this is another way UC Blue Ash is preparing students for successful careers.

This is the second time this event has been held and similar IPE events are planned for the future.

For the second year, a team of eight of UC Blue Ash Radiologic Technology students won second place in the Quiz Bowl at the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists Annual Meeting on April 11, 2014. The Quiz Bowl is a competition designed to be a vehicle for professional interaction and to review radiography curriculum content in an interesting format that will foster discussion of educational information. A total of eighteen teams competed in a double elimination format. The teams were from across the state of Ohio with one team each from Michigan and Kentucky.

UC Blue Ash team members were Jamie Bradley, Laura Kelley, Abbey Christman, Brittni Howard, Jeni Jones, Kayla Allen, Amanda Kramb and Brent Parker. Since the competition began in 1975, UC Blue Ash has taken first place in 2007, 2002, and 1993 and second place in 2005 and 2013. Professor Tiffany Roman served as the team's adviser. We are very proud of the hard work that this year's team dedicated to preparation for the competition and would like to express our congratulations.
