Dental Hygiene Technology Program
At UC Blue Ash College, we are proud to offer the largest and one of the most-established Dental Hygiene programs in the state. The program was created with the founding of our college in 1967 and it continues to be the only Dental Hygiene program offered in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Dental hygiene is an accredited associate of applied science degree program that is designed to prepare students to work as an integral part of a dental team. As licensed professionals, dental hygienists provide a variety of educational and health care services to the public, including cleaning and polishing teeth; applying preventive agents such as fluorides and sealants; exposing and processing radiographs; educating patients in the prevention of oral diseases; instructing patients in home care procedures; removing hard and soft deposits from teeth; providing nutritional counseling; administering nitrous oxide sedation and local anesthesia; and performing other preventive patient services.
Students have direct patient contact in the UC Blue Ash Dental Hygiene Clinic, which is open to the public and provides dental hygiene services, charging only a nominal fee to cover equipment and supplies.
Our growth and success are the result of our ongoing commitment to excellence. We provide our dental hygiene graduates with the knowledge and skills that meet the roles of the profession as a clinician, change agent, administrator/manager, researcher, educator or patient advocate.

Licensure
Federal regulations require the University of Cincinnati to publicly disclose whether completion of certain programs that lead or may lead to professional licensure or certification would meet a given state’s educational requirements for a specific professional license or certification required for employment in an occupation (regardless of whether the program is on-ground, online, or hybrid). To learn whether a University program meets a given state’s educational requirements, please visit the University of Cincinnati State Authorization webpage.
