Faculty Spotlight: Paul Adams
Paul helped organize the Pie Your Professor event on campus to raise money for our Student Nurses Association.
When did you start at UCBA and what are your current responsibilities?
I started at UCBA in the fall semester of 2019 as a Clinical Instructor in the nursing department. My main responsibility was teaching the nursing students in laboratory and in the clinical setting. The following year I was hired as an Assistant Professor, where I became more involved teaching within the classroom as well as maintaining laboratory and clinical responsibilities.
What is your favorite thing about working or teaching at UC Blue Ash?
I really enjoy working with the nursing department faculty/staff and the students. It is great to be a part of a team who is student centered and frequently reflects on what we can do to give a better student experience. The students are excellent as well! It is a pleasure to get to know their stories and to be a part of the journey to nursing that many are extremely passionate about. It’s a privilege to be a part of it.

Is there a current/recent book or podcast you’re enjoying?
Aside from the Bible, I do not really read anything too consistently. It is extremely hard to pick up any new books or podcasts during the academic year. With three (soon to be four) girls running around the house, it is much more enjoyable for my wife and I to mindlessly watch something on Netflix when all our work is wrapped up!
What kind of hobbies or activities do you pursue outside of work?
I enjoy staying active. We regularly play pickleball and spikeball during the summer and I’m excited to be a part of my first softball team here soon! I also try to stay involved with mud runs. Through the Student Nurses Association, my coworker and I were able to run a Spartan Race with some current nursing students last summer.
Paul has been a nurse since 2015 and was nominated as a Health Care Hero for patient experience.
What is one fun or interesting fact you would like to share about yourself?
I consider myself to be wildly common! I eat too much food and used to compete in eating challenges mostly involving burgers and sub sandwiches. I did very well but didn’t bring home the trophy.
